omaeokorosuMany weeks ago, a group of artists dubbed the "Mural Mice" got together to create a mural on the side of the Miller Valley School in Prescott, Arizona. The design was chosen by the teachers and students from the school modeled for the children who would be depicted in the mural.
And now that it's complete, this shit happens.
SERIOUSLY, people, get your heads out of your asses and grow the fuck up! Heaven forbid any of you who complain about it ever LEAVE your little backwater town because you'll have one hell of a reality check waiting for you.
Mom is not happy about it (she's the one in charge of lightening the faces and it's what she was doing today when she called me) because the teachers and school picked the design, they approved everything every step of the way, and the children themselves helped paint it.
The student who modeled for the child in the center? He's Hispanic. So... if you're insisting that the mural is racist, what sort of message is that sending to the children who modeled for it?
Arizona, you're doing a great job of turning your state into one big cosmic joke and Blair, when you say "I'm not a racist by any stretch of the imagination, but whenever people start talking about diversity, it's a word I can't stand", you're sure as hell sounding like that which you want others to believe you're not. Congratulations, Prescott! You're making my backwater hicktown hometown of New Germany look amazing by comparison!
